10 YEARS OF ACTION AND STILL SO MUCH TO ACCOMPLISH

When arriving after experiencing the worst is not enough to keep living, we must first rebuild connection, meaning, and dignity. To achieve this, mobilizing the host society remains obvious and essential.

The LIMBO association was founded in 2016, following the impact of the documentary Voyage en barbarie by Cécile Allegra and Delphine Deloget, exposing the inhuman treatment inflicted on Eritrean exiles in the Sinai. Since then, the initial civic momentum has continued to grow. It has become a sustainable solidarity mission supported by around sixty caregivers, a recognized framework combining artistic mediation, social connection, and long-term psychotherapeutic support. Limbo has already benefited nearly 500 exiled individuals over the long term, most of them survivors of torture and human trafficking.

The needs for psychological and social support remain immense, in a context where mainstream services are still insufficient and ill-adapted to exiled people. A dignified welcome cannot disregard attention to mental well-being and social ties. For rebuilding oneself after leaving everything behind, enduring the unspeakable, and living with the risk of precariousness and xenophobia takes courage that commands admiration. Investing in care should never be an option: it is a human and political responsibility.

Ten years later, LIMBO takes measure of the journey accomplished as well as the magnitude of upcoming challenges. Standing up against wars, denouncing the inhumanity of migration policies, and counting the displaced and disappeared on the roads of exile becomes ever harder. Identity retreat and exclusion are gaining ground in France, in Europe, and elsewhere in the world... Yet none of this has ever shaken our determination to defend the unconditional nature of welcoming and a vision rooted in care, dignity, and connection.

Book your ticket for a key moment of encounters and mobilization around our commitment. While waiting to see you there, discover the 10-year speech by Cécile Allegra - founder of LIMBO, delivered at the General Assembly on June 6, 2026.
