Alexandre Baldo et l'Ensemble Mozaïque : Porpora / Caldara / Smith / Händel / Vivaldi...

Presented by LE PARNASSE EN FETE (Licence: PLATES-L-D-25-833).Unusual SuspectsPresumed guilty of the worst atrocities, the bass roles in the eighteenth century reveal themselves to be more complex and sensitive than their often frightening appearance suggests. A true gallery of portraits bringing together dragons, cyclopes, gods, kings, archangels and demons, this program highlights the surprising multitude of emotions expressed by these mythical figures. It brings together virtuoso and expressive arias composed for the greatest basses of the era such as Christoph Praun or Antonio Montagnana.PROGRAMMENicola Antonio Porpora – Arianna in Nasso – OvertureAntonio Caldara – Il lamento d’Orfeo – CantataAntonio Caldara – Andromaca – Balletto dell’atto quintoJohn Christopher Smith –The Paradise lost – Aria “Thou henceforth art doom’d”Georg Friedrich Händel – Acis and Galatea (1736 version) – Scena “Mi palpita il cor … Affanno tiranno“INTERMISSIONAntonio Vivaldi – Armida al campo d’Egitto – OvertureAntonio Vivaldi – Armida al campo d’Egitto – Aria “So, che combatte ancor“Nicola Porpora Arianna in Nasso – Aria “Più l’impresa perigli n’appresta“Nicola Porpora – Deianira, Iole ed Ercole – OvertureJohann Mattheson – Die geheimen Begebenheiten Henrico IV. – Aria ”Se’l primo amor“Francesco Maria Veracini – Adriano in Siria – Aria “Non ritrova un’alma forte”CASTAlexandre Baldo, bass-baritoneandEnsemble MozaïqueChloé de Guillebon, harpsichord and directionGabriele Toscani, violinPietro Battistoni, violinJoanna Patrick-Taffs, violaCeleste Casiraghi, celloElias Conrad, theorbo
