The Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon continues its exploration of the most demanding contemporary choreographic writings. On the occasion of this Parisian visit, it will present a ballet by Sharon Eyal and The Rite of Spring in the version by Mats Ek. With House, Sharon Eyal confronts the world of ballet with club dance: a love letter to dance at the crossroads of techno. Mats Ek created a first version of The Rite of Spring in 1984, but his creative impulse towards Stravinsky's score remained unsatisfied. Nearly thirty years later, he returned to the drawing board at the invitation of the English National Ballet, delivering a new version that Paris will discover in early 2027. The great Swedish choreographer unfolds all his art of movement in the form of a sharp critique of forced marriage – a modern version of tribal sacrifice – in a Japanese-inspired aesthetic universe, offering a vision both profound and surprising of one of the most choreographed ballet scores in the world since its creation in 1913.
