Come discover the film Insecticide, comment l’agrochimie a tué les insectes, a documentary directed by Miyuki DROZ, Sylvain LEPETIT, and Sébastien SEGA, screened as part of the AlimenTERRE festival, a documentary festival highlighting paths toward sustainable and solidarity-based food systems.

Since the 90s, 75 % of insect biomass has disappeared. The culprit: the massive use of neonicotinoids, insecticides that spread into every plant cell. While scientific studies accumulate to denounce the catastrophic consequences of using these neurotoxins, the multinationals producing them multiply their efforts to cover their tracks.

Funding biased studies, pressuring researchers and research institutes, intensive lobbying of regulatory authorities—all means are deployed to avoid regulations. Meanwhile, insects are disappearing at an unprecedented speed, even though they play key roles in pollination and food chains.

The screening will be followed by a discussion hosted by the association Terre de liens Ile-de-France, a citizen initiative working to preserve agricultural land and support the establishment of organic farmers, in the presence of Michel Campano from the association Alerte des Médecins sur Les Pesticides and Hannane Somi, market gardener in Chelles in Seine-et-Marne.

The AlimenTERRE festival is an international event on sustainable and solidarity-based food systems. Centered around a selection of documentary films, it helps people learn and understand agricultural and food challenges in France and worldwide.
