DMITRY BAEVSKY & ALAIN JEAN-MARIE QUARTET

Presented by Le Sunset (L-1017720-721-722). The Dmitry Baevsky & Alain Jean-Marie Quartet presents two major musicians from the international jazz scene. This project is the meeting point of two remarkably rich musical trajectories. An elegant, multi-award-winning pianist, Alain Jean-Marie possesses the harmonic subtlety, rhythmic foundation, love of melodic phrasing, and sense of touch that are the hallmarks of great pianists, clearly distinguishing him as one of the European scene's premier soloists. He has played with an endless roster of jazz legends: Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Abbey Lincoln, Art Farmer, Max Roach, Sonny Stitt, Barney Wilen, Christian Escoudé, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Henri Texier… On his end, alto saxophonist Dmitry Baevsky trained in St. Petersburg, Russia, before flying to New York at the age of 19 years and making his mark for more than twenty years at the heart of the demanding New York scene. With a rare and warm alto timbre, formidable technique, and immediately recognizable lyricism, he has performed alongside musicians like Cedar Walton, Jimmy Cobb, Benny Green, Peter Bernstein… These two musicians share an evident rapport and the same artistic rigor. Supported by a top-tier rhythm section, the quartet delivers elegant, warm jazz that is more alive than ever.
