ELEONORE LANGELIER QUINTET • “JAZZ LOVES AMY”

Concert schedule: 21h

With JAZZ LOVES AMY, the repertoire of Amy Winehouse takes on a new color, in a powerful Blues register, vibrant and widely open to improvisation. From Back to Black to Rehab, his songs have become classics, carried by this immediately recognizable voice and by a universe that mixes with a rare freedom soul, jazz, blues and rhythm & blues. Here, there is no question of simply reproducing his songs: the project takes his songs to make them breathe differently, with living arrangements, long improvisational beaches and real freedom left to the musicians. We find all the strength, sensuality and fragility of Amy’s repertoire, but with the energy of a jazz concert where each piece can take a new direction. A generous and instinctive tribute to an artist whose songs continue, fifteen years after her disappearance, to reach an audience still as wide.
