Summary
Who is Jacques Chirac? What is he hiding under his grotesque, conquering and popular mask? And how can it reveal something to us about our democracy? Dreamlike comedy, crazy investigation, portrait of a legacy, this text lays the first stone of the series Huit Rois (nos présidents).
The Théâtre La Pépinière presents all the episodes created from September 2026 to April 2027! Each “king” is brought to the stage with the singular style he embodies: dreamlike comedy for J. Chirac, portrait of a generation for F. Mitterrand, culinary farce for V. Giscard d’Estaing, stand-up for N. Sarkozy, clown for F. Hollande, science fiction for E. Macron...
Every president has his own aesthetic.
The series also tells the story of a French family across four generations — farmers and workers, journalists and unemployed, children and artists. It is the joyful, popular and contradictory portrait of society as a whole!
