Across four albums, Imarhan has become an emblem of the new Tuareg generation, breathing fresh life into Assouf, the desert blues. Imarhan celebrates the daily life of passionate Kel Tamashek youth, between the vastness of the desert and city life.

Imarhan's sound reflects multifaceted influences, a rare symbiosis arising from their ancestral Tuareg roots, ballads from Sub-Saharan Africa, and pop-rock experiences from Algeria and the West that they listened to growing up.

"ESSAM", the band's fourth album, marks a significant turning point in their sound and approach. Moving away from the rock, blues, and psychedelic sound driven by Tuareg guitar and influenced by the legacy of Tinariwen, it turns toward a more open, modern, and trailblazing sonic landscape.
