La claque

Success! 5th season at La Gaîté!

7 nominations for the Trophies of the Comédie Musicale 2023!

1895 in a Parisian theater.

Auguste Levasseur, slap leader, leads a troop of accomplices, who, mixed with the public, are responsible for applauding at the opportune moments.

An applauded piece is a hit piece, but two hours before a grand premiere, Auguste is abandoned by his slap. He then charged Fauvette, musician of the orchestra, and Dugommier, manager of the theater, to find substitutes to save the evening performance.

There is only an hour and a half left before the premiere to have the novice clappers rehearse by performing excerpts from the show which has no less than five acts, forty musicians and thirty changes of scenery! The task is arduous, they are only three, and tonight, their career is only a slap!

After "The Whisperer" and its 600 performances, Fred Radix returns with a new show that takes a subject and a character that have marked the history of the theater and treats them with humor, musicality and historical lag.
