Le Malade imaginaire

Wealthy Argan, a widowed hypochondriac, has remarried an attractive woman. Deceived about his health, he swears only by enemas and potions and wants his daughter to marry a doctor against her will.

Blinded by his fear of death, he would rather ruin Angélique's happiness by marrying her to a physician who will serve his quest for eternity. But a maid is keeping watch, though Argan would have to be kept away from Toinette between two enemas for everything to go swimmingly...
