Louison

A count neglects his young and beautiful wife to pursue her chambermaid, Louison. Virtuous, the pretty lady's maid tries to dodge his advances by setting up a rustic but sincere rival against the count.

Transcending the usual conventions of vaudeville, Musset places the social injustice suffered by his heroine at the core of the play; the innocent Louison can only find a way out through her own nobility of soul.
