“The Pits”: it can mean hard times, bad luck, armpit sweat stains… but also cherries. “Penny & The Pits” is the new project of Penelope Stevens, a fixture of the Maritimes scene. Best known as part of the trio of spirited art-rock band Motherhood, Stevens is also an essential organizer, collaborator, and visual artist on New Brunswick's offbeat underground arts and music scene.

Liquid Compactor, the debut release from Penny & The Pits, stems from an approach where Stevens puts her vocals front and center for the first time. It is a raw and daring punk rock album that explores feminist joy, rage, and vengeance. Over the album's ten tracks, Stevens navigates her way through a series of personal and collective traumas with unbridled exuberance. “I spent a lot of time creating demanding works that challenged both myself and the listener,” she shares. “Today, I'm trying to make music that feels good; music that connects heart to body.”

PEUF! was born from the meeting of three Parisian friends: Louis Prado, Martin Ferreyros, and Tao Ehlrich. Formed in 2021 during a residency at La Gare, they developed their instrumental universe, blending progressive rock, alternative pop, and trance music influences. That is where a devoted audience began to gather, increasingly drawn to the immersive experience of their concerts.

All three are professional musicians active in the contemporary, rock, and jazz music scenes. Between collaborations with renowned artists and personal projects, they reunited in PEUF! with a desire to play together. From this friendship was born music with explosive energy, like a flash of adolescence sweeping you into its hypnotic web. Between guitar, double bass, and drums, they create a magnetic, enveloping, and vibrant universe.

Their sound evokes the driving rhythms of LCD Soundsystem, the multifaceted expressiveness of Nilüfer Yanya, and the dreamlike labyrinths of Mount Kimbie, all fused into a unique experience, both electrifying and captivating.

PEUF! is the promise of a hypnotic escape, a free explosion of emotions, a vibration that electrifies your body.
